EDIT
Indian Origin
The Arabic-indic Digit Three is very similar in its appearance to the western (Arabic) Digit Three. The Arabic-indic digits have an Indian origin; the original Indian characters can be found in various Unicode blocks such as Devanagari (U+0900-U+097F). They gradually evolved to a more Arabic shape. |
