EDIT Yoḏ (Yodh, Yud, Yudh) is the tenth letter of the Syriac alphabet. It represents the y sound. It also operates as a mater lectionis representing the vowel i and sometimes ē. In East Syriac notation, when representing the vowel i it takes ḥḇāṣā (U+073C) below, and, when representing the vowel ē, the preceding consonant takes zlāmā (U+0739) below. In West Syriac notation, the vowel marks for both vowels are place either above or below the preceding consonants; i has ḥḇāṣā (U+073A or U+073B) and ē has (U+0736 or U+0737).
