Linguistics In the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) it represents the alveolar click, a sound that is found in some South African languages, e.g. that of the !Ko in Botswana or that of the !Koon in Namibia. The sound is created by quickly removing the tip of the tongue from a spot right behind the two top incisors.
