BEARBEITEN Recycling-Code für PS Das obige Zeichen, auch mit der Kennzeichnung »06«, steht für den Kunststoff Styropor (Polystyrene), kurz PS. Er wird in seiner normalen Form verwendet für Produkte wie CD-Hüllen, Plastikbesteck, billige Spielzeuge und Vide bzw. Dvd-Hüllen. In der aufgeschäumten Version (PS-E) werden daraus z.B. die Schalen für rohes Fleisch im Supermarkt hergestellt und Transportschachteln für heisse Mahlzeiten.
Das Zeichensystem für das Recycling von Kunststoffen (engl. Resin identification code) wurde 1988 von der Society of the Plastics Industry veröffentlicht.
