(n Fakultät) dient, geht auf eine Arbeit von Leonhard Euler aus dem Jahr 1730 zurück. Das griechische Gamma-Zeichen wurde jedoch erst später von dem Mathematiker Adrien Marie Legendre (1752-1833) für diese Funktion verwendet. (Literatur: Philip J.
